In June of 1998 Valentine “Val T’.Thomas along with his partner Mick Stokes officially opened the doors to the newest radio station on the scene in St. Kitts called Sugar City Roc 90.3 F.M. The opening ceremony was graced with the presence of the legendary Motown recording group ‘Cool and the Gang’ who cut the ribbon. Sugar City Roc started gathering steam, by creating its own niche in the market, bringing with it a captivated audience along for the musical ride. With growing pains and the blight of mother nature in September of 2001, Sugar City Roc F.M lost all of its equipment, however, determined to get back on the air Sugar City Roc saw re-birth a month later, regaining its place on the airwaves, enchanting the young and the not so young alike, with a great mix of R&B, Soca, Reggae, Urban, Calypso, Dancehall, Gospel, Lovers Rock, Country and Western, Zuk and many other forms of music.

Over the years Sugar City Roc has played an integral role in the promotion of not only home grown artists from St. Kitts and Nevis, but also entertainers from throughout the Caribbean. The Roc, as we are affectionately know, has also been at the forefront of promoting events such as the International St. Kitts Music Festival and National Carnival, as well as many community events.

The Roc has been graced with the ‘on air’ presence of many famed entertainers and personalities from throughout the world including: Dru Hill, Ron Isley, Chante Moore, Chanice Wilson, Elephant Man, Yolanda Adams, Percy Sledge, Carleen Davis, KC & Jo Jo, Eve, DMX, David Rudder, Sanchez, Berris Hammond, Capleton, Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas, Tourism Minister Hon Dwyer Astaphan, Sir ‘Viv’ Richards and many others.
